At First Kids, we are committed to creating a safe, loving, exciting, Bible-based environment for kids; one that will activate their minds and warm their hearts.

We offer a variety of worship and learning experiences for your little ones, from birth through 5th grade, during our Sunday morning services at 9:00, 11:00. We also offer Wednesday evening Children’s programming.

Our Nursery

A nursery is available on Sunday mornings for children, newborn through 3 years old, between 9:00a.m. and 12:00 p.m. The nursery is also available for many studies and activities during the week. We have wonderful paid childcare staff so that children will have consistency instead of having to adjust to a new person every time they go to the nursery.

Children’s Programming on Sunday Mornings

On Sunday mornings, we offer Children’s Church during the 9:00 and 11:00 am services. Classes are divided by Preschool, Kindergarten through 2nd grade, and 3rd-5th Grade

Current curriculum is HeartShaper for Preschoolers, Simply Loved for Kindergarten-2nd Grade, and Be Bold for 3rd-5th Grade

Wednesday Evening Programming For Preschoolers to 5th Grade

Through music, drama, games, crafts, and lessons, the children learn how to praise God and share the love of Jesus.

Wednesday evenings, after a family meal time at 5:00 pm,  programming begins at 6:00 pm and ends at 7:00 pm.  There will be programming for all ages.

In addition to our regular programming we also:

  • Participate in Children’s Sunday with scripture reading and singing and more.
  • Take 3rd Graders on a day retreat to learn about their Bibles.
  • Present a Christmas play each year.
  •  Participate in First Families Events! Events for the whole family such as Trunk or Treat, Family Bowling, and an Easter Egg Hunt
  •  Have Summer Fun!   Vacation Bible School, First Kids Day Camp at Mount Shepherd Retreat Center, Family Swim Parties.

We are a Safe Sanctuaries Congregation!

The General conference of the United Methodist Church, in April 1996, and the Western North Carolina Annual Conference, in June 2004, adopted resolutions aimed at reducing the risk of abuse of children and youth in the church. This would include sexual, emotional, physical and ritual abuse and neglect.

The purpose for establishing our Safe Sanctuary policy and the procedures is to demonstrate our absolute and unwavering commitment to the physical safety and spiritual growth in all of our children and youth in the church. In all of our ministries with children and youth, our congregation is committed to demonstrating the love of Jesus Christ so that each child and youth will be “surrounded by steadfast love, established in the faith and confirmed and strengthened in the way that leads to life eternal”.

Safe Sanctuary Trainings are held regularly. Background Checks are done on all staff and volunteers who work with our children/youth at the church. Please contact Hollie Luther or Edward Ramsey to be trained.
